Ninlil (Assyrian: Mullissu). Mesopotamian goddess of wind and wife of Enlil (and later Ashur). Mother of several gods, including Nergal, Ninurta, and Sin (Nanna). Ninlil is portrayed as the queen of the Mesopotamian pantheon with the ability to persuade and offer counsel to her husband, Enlil.
It appears that Ninlil played a key role in the annual Tummal ceremony, which renewed and legitimized the authority of the (human) king at Nippur (Sharlach, “Diplomacy,” 22). Ninlil also is identified with Sud, goddess of Šuruppak, and is known as Mullissu in Assyrian texts.
