Ehud the Judge (אֵהוּד, ehud; אֵחוּד, echud). The second of the major judges in the book of Judges; a Benjaminite who delivers Israel from the power of the Moabites by assassinating their king, Eglon, and defeating their army (Judg 3:12–30; 4:1). Ehud is a “son of Gera,” which some take to mean he is of the clan of Gera of Benjamin (Judg 3:15; 1 Chr 8:3, 5, 7; Sasson, Judges 1–12, 226).
